Well, first thing I would suggest to you is get out of your mind that hiring a debt settlement company is the way to solve your debt problems.
Most are going to take your money and leave you worse off than before you got with them!

Debt settlement companies offer a settlement program wherein they negotiate with your creditors/CA in order to settle the debt for less than what you owe. The companies charge an upfront fee for their services.

You can do what the settlement companies do yourself.

Don’t ignore bills that come by mail.
Once you acknowledge a debt to a collector the clock goes back to zero (unsecured debt has a statute of limitations)
Visit Suze Ormon’s web site. She is very good at telling you how to deal with debt.
Ask for or offer a settlement on your debt. Base it on the principle not the total.
You just have debt, youre not a bad person.
