Has anyone had experience with The Johnson Law Group debt settlement program (based in Longwood FL)?

I’m perplexing to find out because they appear so evasive, right away which we have sealed up with them.

There are 2 suggestions to question “Has anyone had experience with The Johnson Law Group debt settlement program (based in Longwood FL)?”

  1. I work for a law firm, and we hear from people who have employed these companies to settle their debts.

What people react to as to why they employ these companies are the debt collection calls from creditors. Once an account reaches 180 days past due it is charged off as a bed debt by the creditor.

Creditor then retains legal counsel to obtain judgment. Consumer at this point calls the debt settlement company who gets the person to sign a power-of-attorney which includes a cease and desist order.

The consumer is under the false impression that by employing a debt settlement company this will stop a law suit. It’s rare that the law firm is able to get the creditor to settle for less tha 75% of the balance owed unless there is a documented medical hardship no asset case.

That takes the consumer out of the information loop, as well as stops the calls, The next thing the consumer hears is the doorbell. The sheriff appears to serve a summons, and complaint.

Most debt settlement companies are ‘"for profit". This means that before you are able to pay in enough to the "program" to even settle one debt, they get paid first. There’s never enough $ there to settle all the debts at one time so the only company who gets paid is the debt settlement company in most cases.

If people are in huge unsecured debt it may be better to file Chapter 13 or 7 bankruptcy based on what an attorney recommends.

You need to handle your own business, and cancel your contract with these people.

Most creditors and law firms are willing to work with people if they would just call, and speak to a supervisor not one of the collectors. You’ll need to fax a written retraction of the POA, and cease and desist order to the creditors and law firms for them to be able to speak to you now.

See below the names of some of the current debt settlement companies out there.

  2. Did you pay them anything upfront? If you did, then you have your answer. Paying ANYONE upfront is the easiest way to get scammed by people who claim to do this.
