no, last year our interest alone was less than 300 billion, but the bailout has cost 8 trillion.
the real reason is that politicians will NEVER stop taking your money without us forcing the issue by throwing them from office.
your money empowers them, over you, over the nation, over corporations, over the world. they can dole it out, or hold it back. it is tremendous power they have collectively.
and they are not going to surrender it easily.
we do need to repeal the 16 th amendment, but the parties will fight you with everything they have. local taxes lead to local control over taxation and spending, and that is the enemy of the 2 parties.

Income tax isn’t presently being used to pay off the national debt, for the most part. It is primarily used in military spending, as well as for education, roads, health care, welfare, foreign aid, and a whole host of other things. If we got rid of income tax, unless we replaced it with something like the Consumption Tax or the Fair Tax, the Federal Government would cease to exist. We would have no military, our roads would degrade rapidly, millions of families and old people would lose their health coverage… lots of horrible things would happen.. Then there would still be state income tax for police, fire, etc. and if we got rid of that, we would have no public services….

AT SOME POINT IN THE FUTURE THE GOVERNMENT WILL NO LONGER BE ABLE TO BORROW ENOUGH MONEY TO RUN THE GOVERNMENT AND PAY THE INTEREST ON THE DEBT. THIS WILL CAUSE THE GOVERNMENT TO STOP PAYING ON THE DEBT AND WILL RESULT IN THE GOVERNMENT HAVING TO EITHER LIMIT GOVERNMENT SPENDING TO REVENUES OR TO TURN ON THE PRINTING PRESSES. NEITHER ONE WILL BE PRETTY.
Our government will not stop spending our money until we become a third world country. Government is totally out of control. Now we are going to have corporate welfare. And their checks will be much larger than the lazy class welfare checks.
