There are 12 suggestions to question “eliminate debt?”

  1. earn more and spend less.

  2. Pay it off.

  3. unless you want to live in a cave, debt is all around. Took my wife and I 3 years but what we did was use our tax return money to pay off all our credit cards. Now when we want something, we save up for it. Unless its a big ticket item like a car we bought and borrowed on last year

  4. You’re not really giving us much to work with here. Can you be more specific?

  5. It’s odd. To deal with one thing you must concentrate on something else. Debt exists only because of spending. So, you deal with debt by dealing with spending. If you don’t spend a dollar, that’s a dollar you don’t have to earn, or what is much worse, borrow. If you don’t spend a thousand, that’s a thousand you don’t have to earn or borrow.

  6. You need to manage your finances read some tips and articles on it on this site

  7. Pay as much as you can each month, never be late and don’t buy another thing on credit until you have paid it off.

  9. Figure out exactly how much you owe to who and how much interest you are being charged. Take either the smallest debt or the one with the highest interest rate and plan to pay extra on it every month. Even just $5 extra everymonth will work. Make the minimum payments due on all other bills. I suggest tackling the smallest debt first, you will see results quicker and this will give you the motivation to stick with your plan.

Once the first debt is paid off, apply whatever you were paying on it to your next debt.

Repeat this process until everything is paid off.

You did not mention what types of debt you have, but for credit scoring purposes, you should not close credit cards when you pay them off. Keep them open, but if you think you will be tempted to use them again, cut the cards up.

  10. I’m assuming you mean credit card debt? as they are what gets most people into trouble– I got rid of mine by getting a consolidation loan from a bank, paid off and closed all my cards—and if your bank won’t loan you the money, try credit.com for alternative funding…yes, you will pay interest but it won’t be revolving interest as the credit cards charge…then make a practice of spending less…I am doing this and I will be completely out from under my 3 credit cards within 2 years from now. I use only my debit card now and if I don’t have money, I don’t buy, it is amazing how little we actually truly need! When my 2 years are over, or sooner if I can manage it- my paycheck will be all mine (except for the basic bills of course) Hope this helps :)
