Senator Tom Coburn (R-OK) is the single of the better-known Senators in Washington who identifies himself as Christian. A part of of the Christian organisation The Family, Senator Coburn has been outspoken in his antithesis to happy matrimony as well as termination as well as identifies himself upon his web site as the part of of the New Community Church in Muskogee, OK.
Here, according to Yahoo News, is the single of Senator Coburn’s ultimate domestic acts in the Senate. If you have been the Christian, do you consider which the upon all sides which Senator Coburn is receiving upon fluctuating stagnation benefits to jobless Americans is unchanging with the Christian message?
Why or because not?
WASHINGTON – As Congress raced to leave Washington for the Easter recess, the Republican senator shut off the refuge check to magnify jobless benefits, observant the billion price should not be combined to the inhabitant debt.
As the result, the little people who have been out of work for some-more than 6 months will during slightest at the moment remove benefits. Newly jobless people won’t be authorised to pointer up for inexhaustible illness word subsidies.
At the core of the conflict is Sen. Tom Coburn, R-Okla., who’s insisting which the magnitude be "paid for" so as not to supplement to the nation’s .7 trillion debt.
"What you have been you do is hidden destiny event from the children," Coburn pronounced Thursday.

The strife comes reduction than the month after Republicans deserted the identical conflict which led to an stop in stagnation benefits eligibility for the little people as well as the two-day permit for about 2,000 Transportation Department employees.
A refuge law enacted early this month extends yet Apr 5 stagnation word for people who have been out of the pursuit for some-more than 6 months, provides illness word subsidies for the jobless as well as protects doctors from the pointy cut in Medicare payments.
But an one more short-term prolongation of the jobless benefits is indispensable whilst House as well as Senate Democrats work by negotiations upon the long-term magnitude which would yield them by the end of the year. Those talks have slowed, call Democrats to pierce to magnify benefits for an one more month.
Last month, Sen. Jim Bunning, R-Ky., shut off the identical prolongation of jobless benefits, though Republicans finished up upon the losing end of the open family conflict as well as Bunning corroborated away.

I sent a message to Coburn last night on this. I told him that he should be ashamed of his actions. They are completely inconsistent with Christianity and basic human decency. I asked him how he could sleep at night.
Sadly, I’ve come to expect things like this from Republicans. They give lip service to Christianity, but would rob an orphan or widow to line their own pockets.
Paying for what you spend
Sounds Christian to me
If you don’t have the money…you don’t have the money, and your taking from our kids to pay for our excesses.
Cause lets face it folks, we made this recession we OWN it.
Why make our kids pay for it.
I would say that in the current economic crisis, giving unemployed people enough aid to get started back out into employment again would be a major priority, but obviously not to this short sighted individual.
Maybe unemployed Christians will rise and boot him out of office.
I don’t think the bible Jesus saw poor people as lazy and undeserving of aid
I’d say that’s it’s how a RESPONSIBLE senator, of ANY religion, should act.
The federal government was never meant to get into the business of charity — go Google "Horatio Bunce and Davy Crockett":

I and the bible agrees with him. You little lefties have not a clue about real integrity. Extending those benefits will not solve the real problem, government intervention in the econmy. Why not send that money to the wealthy, they will make jobs, then the people can work and pay their own bills, instead of having government steal from those who are working .Jesus said about the talents. " Take the talents ( money) from the unproductive one and give it to the one that produce double his original talent." Coburn is walking and talking just like jesus.
What you pointedly failed to quote from the article:
"Democratic leaders say that jobless benefits are an emergency and don’t need to conform to the new pay-as-you-go budget law…"
Interesting. You think that the people who impose laws and conditions on us and expect us to obey should be able to ignore the laws that apply to them when those laws are inconvenient?
Where does hypocrisy fit in to the Christian behavior you’re interested in?
Going into debt is not a Christian value so it is consistent. Also, I believe the point was to use unallocated stimulus money to pay for it, money that was already taken out of the budget but not doing anything, which would be good stewardship, another Christian value.
yes it is a christian principle
to burden future generations with debt for a program that needs to be paid for now today is irresponsible.
the money should be paid for today not packed on for future generations to have to deal with.
our national debt is already way too high and democrats are constantly bankrupting our nation by heaping large amount of debt for the future.
RNKJV: Proverbs Chapter 22
[26] Be not thou one of them that strike hands, or of them that are sureties for debts.
[27] If thou hast nothing to pay, why should he take away thy bed from under thee?
RNKJV: II Thessalonians 3:10. For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.
You are confusing Christianity and Civil Duty. Just how much of the money you work for are you willing to give to an unemployed person? The reason these people are needy is because this administration has effected the worst economy in many years. There is no incentive to work, and that is the way they want things. It appears they will make as many people as possible dependent on the Federal Government, thereby making us a Socialist Nation.
If you think me cold hearted for saying this, please keep in mind that I might be jobless myself.
In so far a this man sinning, which is what you seem to be implying, remember John 8:7, and decide if you want to be the first to cast a stone.
As humans we are all subject to doing things we later regret, though I do not know that will be the case with this Senator.
